Prostitution in campus environment
Prostitution in campus environment usually occurs for three reasons. First, the students need some money to pay college bills, but the economy condition in their family is not good. Secondly, they want to get good and precious lifestyle, the need expensive things for their life. Thirdly, the students choose wrong friendship environment, so they are affected with the bad thing.
There are to many kinds definition of prostitution, one of them according to Aguste of hippo (354-430),a father of the crunch. He said prostitution as something bad, even evil. This view is based on the assumption that that the presence of prostitution can change the sexual appetite who need it (usually man). He said that prostitution is like a “gutter that channels water foul in order to maintain the health of city resident”. Other than that according to Holden culfield, the word prostitution can also be used metaphorically to mean debasement of working towards an unworthy cause. In this sense, “prostituting oneself” or “whoring oneself” the service or act performed are typically not sexual.
Legal regulation of prostitution is so complicated. The position of prostitution and the law varies widely worldwide, reflecting differing opinions or victimhood and exploitation, inequality, gender roles, gender equality, ethics, morality.
In Indonesia the government do not explicitly prohibit the practice of prostitution. It can be seen in article 296,297 and 506 of the criminal code (KUHP) and in draft criminal code of 2006,particularly article 428 chapter XVI. Those article in criminal code (KUHP) only prohibit those who help and provide illegal sexual service. That’s mean the ban is only given for pimps, prostitutes themselves while there is absolutely no article that govern them. That activities such as is not classified as criminal action.
In my opinion, about prostitution in campus environment should be considered. Not only in campus environment but also wherever prostitution should be banned. I think it is so inappropriate morally that a woman sells her body and self-esteem only for survival. It would be better if they did a better job. Government haven’t taken action in this case. They should make a strong regulation about prostitution, of course with serious and severe sanctions. So all women will think more if they want to become a prostitute. Government also should provide employment for woman, so that they can work well.
So, let’s avoid all these reason for prostitution doesn’t occur. And let’s hope our government can make good regulation for prostitution case in his country
